Thisbe Nissen is the author of two novels, "Osprey Island" and "The Good People of New York," and a story collection, "Out of the Girls Room and Into the Night."

"The Good People of New York" was praised by the San Francisco Chronicle as "funny and poignant ... conjures serious emotions with grace, humor and gravity." "Out of the Girls Room and Into the Night" won the 1999 John Simmons Short Fiction Award.

She is also the author, with Erin Ergenbright, of "The Ex-Boyfriend Cookbook." Her work has also appeared in Story, Seventeen, Vogue, the New York Times Magazine, Glamour and Glimmer Train.

A graduate of Oberlin College and the Iowa Writers' Workshop, Nissen has also taught at the Iowa Writers' Workshop and Columbia University.

She lives in New York and Iowa City.
