Mary Beth Keane is the author of the novel “The Walking People.”
The Washington Post called it “thoughtful and appealing … a solid, intelligent piece of work.” Colum McCann said that it’s “a beautifully crafted story reminiscent of the best Mary Gordon or John McGahern or Claire Keegan. She’s got heart and subtlety all at once.”
Her short fiction has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Antioch Review, The Baltimore Review, New York Stories and The Recorder.
Keane attended Barnard College and earned her MFA from the University of Virginia.
A winner of the Chicago Tribune’s Nelson Algren Prize and a Pushcart Prize nominee, she lives in Philadelphia.
