Rich, Nathaniel

Nathaniel Rich is the author of the novel “The Mayor’s Tongue” (Riverhead).

Stephen King called it “an elegantly-structured, brilliantly-told novel, by turns terrifying, touching and wildly funny, and always generous and magical,” and Gary Shteyngart says Rich is “a young writer who is not afraid to give literature a kick in the pants, a writer deep in the thrall of language.”

Rich is also the the author of “San Francisco Noir,” which Martin Scorsese described as “a fascinating work of criticism disguised as a guided tour around a great city. He puts you right in the middle of some wonderful movies — and what better travel book could there be?” The San Francisco Chronicle named it one of the best books of 2005.

Nathaniel Rich is the senior editor of The Paris Review. He has written for The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Slate, Vanity Fair, The New Republic and The Village Voice.
