Pernice, Joe

Joe Pernice, a critically acclaimed musician, producer and writer, is the author of the novel “It Feels So Good When I Stop.”

He has written and recorded prolifically with the Scud Mountain Boys and his band, the Pernice Brothers, who have released six albums.

“One can accept, reluctantly, Pernice’s apparently inexhaustible ability to knock out brilliant three-minute pop songs,” wrote Nick Hornby in The Believer. “But now it turns out he can write fiction too, and so envy and bitterness become unavoidable.”

In addition to touring extensively for much of the last decade, Joe has written a collection of poetry, “Two Blind Pigeons,” and a lauded novella, “Meat Is Murder,” part of the 33 1/3 series from Continuum Books.

He co-owns an indie music label, Ashmont Records, and his music has appeared on the television shows “Gilmore Girls” and “Six Feet Under” and in the movie “Fever Pitch.”  His soundtrack to “It Feels So Good When I Stop” can be ordered here.

A Massachusetts native, Pernice lives in Toronto.
