Pearl, Matthew

Matthew Pearl is the author of the international best sellers “The Dante Club” and “The Poe Shadow” (now in paperback).

The Atlanta Journal Constitution grouped Pearl with Jonathan Franzen and Richard Powers as adding to “the growing genre of novel being written nowadays — the learned, challenging kind that does not condescend.” The Globe and Mail declared him “a writer of rare talents.” And Dan Brown called him “the new shining star of literary fiction — a heady, inventive and immensely gifted author.”

Pearl graduated from Harvard University summa cum laude in English and American Literature in 1997 and Yale Law School in 2000. He has taught literature and creative writing at Harvard University and Emerson College, and has been a Visiting Lecturer in law and literature at Harvard Law School.

He lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts where he is at work on his third novel.
