Helms, Beth

Beth Helms is the author of the novel “Dervishes” (Picador), which Sara Gruen praised as “a brilliant, moving anfd utterly brave debut.”

Her story collection, “American Wives,” won the 2003 Iowa Short Fiction Award. The Los Angeles Times called it “fantastic … there’s no silver lining in Helms’ stories, no end of the rainbow.”

She spent her childhood in Iran, Iraq, Germany and Turkey, and now lives with her family in upstate New York.
