Gold, Glen David

Glen David Gold is the author of the novels “Carter Beats the Devil” and “Sunnyside,” which will be published by Knopf in May.

“Carter Beats the Devil” was an international best seller, a New York Times notable book for 2001, and appeared on best books lists in the Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Entertainment Weekly and many other publications.

The New York Times called it “an enormously assured first novel,” Entertainment Weekly raved “simply amazing,” and the New Yorker called it “one of the most entertaining appearing acts of recent years.”

Junot Diaz called “Sunnyside” a “breathless, stupendous novel that recreates both a young, brash America on the verge of becoming itself, and Chaplin, one of its most bewitching, quixotic citizens.”

Gold received his MFA for creative writing at the University of California at Irvine, and has written for film, television and newspapers. He lives in California.
